Our first tutorial here at good-walls.com as you can see we will have all kind of tutorials from effects to things like this (graphic design) In this one you will learn how to Simulate the printing of your Brand Campaign, from the placement of documents to the shadows and blurs that give them the realism for this piece.

First Step

Let's Start by creating a new document, for this tutorial I will be using 1200x750 RGB, but if you want to print your presentation I advice a bigger size using CMYK and 300 DPI.

Background Creation

The Logo I'm using here is using as a main color red, and secondary grey, We want the Background to feel right with the branding pack, so here I'll do a 3 Color Radial Gradient using only the Reds found in the logo, Create a New Layer name it "BG" and apply the gradient, but you are free to do as you feel better, remember to learn here but also get creative.

Heres how my background looks like. Look how I started the gradient a little from the left that's where my Folder will be.

Placing your Work

Now we will start by placing your Main Folder, Create a New Layer and go to File -> Place... browse until you find your Folder for the Paper Sheets, click ok and the file will be placed in your current document.

Distort and Position

After your document is placed lets start playing with it, go to Edit -> Transform -> Distort and start mesing around with your Design, try diferent aproaches, I will make this a open folder so later I can fit one of my Paper Sheets in there.

After you are happy with the result press Enter.

Now we will do the interior of the Folder. Do the Same procedure, Create a New Layer then File->Place... and this time we don't need to Distort, just put this new layer behind the Cover of the Folder Layer and voila. We will leave the shadows for later.

Business Cards Placement

Ok now we don't need to remind you how to do it, you have learned it.. just repeat the process, and Distort it as you want, I puted my Cards against the folder and used the front and back of the card so that the client can have a view of both in this simulation.

Now that you got the hang of it

Do all the other documents your presentation needs, and then procede to the next step.

The Warp Tool

We will be using this tool for the folded Paper Sheet in the middle of the document. Ok don't be afraid, the procedure is the same, yet the tool is diferent, Create a New Layer, Place your paper sheet and go to Edit -> Transform -> Warp, this tool works a lot like the Distort, since it distorces the image, but here you get more than 8 points, imagine a paper sheet and now imagine the points that you see now in that sheet, so if you pull one of those the sheet will distort in that area and so on and so on...I know its a little hard to start, if it doesn't go right just (command+alt+z or ctrl+alt+z) and do it again until you are happy with it. Heres my result.

Shadows Finally

Ok now that our Branding Campaing is completed we move to the final touches, to give more realism we need shadows of course, and a little blur.

Imagine where you want you shadow to hit, in our case we want it to the right and flat on ground, Using the selection tool we make a selection like a card but lied down.

Make a new layer and fill it with black.

We've got a full black shadow we need to soften it out, go to Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur and give a value that you feel looks good, for this example we used 2.5 and puted the shadows to 50%.

Our Card Shadows look like this now.

Looking good, lets move on to the CoverBook Shadow. Its the same procedure, Do a selection like I did, create a new layer beneath the cover book and fill it with black again. This time use just 1.0 gaussian blur and put down the opacity to 50%.

The folded Sheet of paper needs 2 ways of shadowing, one is making a selection like the one below, again fill it with black, give it 2.5 gaussian blur and put the opacity down to 50%.

The second part starts by getting a soft brush, I've used 40 size and 0% hardness, put the down the opacity of the brush to to 5% and brush away until you got a nice shadow and realistic one. See how we did it.

Blending Options Final Shadows

The next shadows are very very simple, since all the other documents are lying down the same way almost we just need to give it a drop shadow.

We used this settings, it may not work for you but just mess around, remember you are here to learn but try stuff to, don't be afraid of trying different options.

Nice tutorial and good presentation of all files. Altough it looks pretty perfect there are some points that need to be editted.

The transform tool is great, but the negative side of this handy tool is that it makes your layeredges go pixel.

Another point is that the back of the main map, needs to be transformed a bit aswell in order to contain the realism of this picture.

BUT, these are slight negative points on an overall good presentation.

Keep up the good work and especially.. keep posting!
